Mission Statement

It is the mission of the Aird lab to conduct bold, creative, and impactful research to uncover how metabolic rewiring drives cell fate decisions, cell-cell communication, and cancer progression and therapeutic response with the ultimate goal of expanding knowledge on fundamental biology while also improving human health.

To do this, we perform rigorous and reproducible experiments, carefully analyze and interpret data, and pursue deep mechanistic insight while maintaining a clear focus on translational relevance. We openly share our knowledge and disseminate our discoveries widely through publications, presentations, and collaboration.

We are deeply committed to the training and career development of scientists at all stages and strive to cultivate a vibrant, collaborative, and intellectually curious environment that emphasizes critical thinking, creativity, scientific ownership, and passion for discovery.

We are committed to promoting diversity in STEM and is particularly passionate about the recruitment, mentoring, and retention of women in academic research.
