Laura Lauture

Postdoctoral fellow

Laura developed an interest in cancer research during her studies at the University of Toulouse (Toulouse, France), where she completed a Master’s degree in Cancer Biology. She then pursued her PhD at the Toulouse Cancer Research Center (Toulouse, France), where she investigated the role of the transcription factor CEBP/a in acute myeloid leukemia, with a particular focus on FLT3-mutated cells. Her doctoral research explored how CEBP/a regulates lipid metabolism and mitochondrial function in these cells and how these metabolic pathways shape the response to targeted therapies. By combining in vivo models, patient-derived samples, and multi-omics approaches, she investigated the metabolic adaptations associated with leukemia progression and therapeutic resistance, and to identifying metabolic vulnerabilities that could be therapeutically exploited.

Looking to expand her research into the intersection of cancer metabolism and tumor immunity, Laura joined the Aird Lab at The Wistar Institute as a postdoctoral fellow in September 2026. Her current research focuses on understanding how CD8⁺ T cells shape the metabolic landscape of high-grade serous ovarian cancer. In particular, she investigates how T-cell-derived signals and nutrient competition influence lipid and redox metabolism in tumor cells, and how these metabolic interactions affect ferroptosis and response to chemotherapy.
